Sustainability at Harvard

Green Labs at HMS and HSPH

What is Longwood Green Labs?

The HMS & HSPH Green Programs work with researchers, staff, faculty, and building managers to implement sustainable practices and technologies in HMS & HSPH lab buildings. Because of the resource intensity of lab science and the unique conditions and requirements in each individual lab, we approach lab sustainability both from a building-wide perspective, as well as a grassroots perspective aimed at identifying local opportunities at the individual lab level.

How can I get involved?

  1. Become a sustainability liaison for your lab or department. Email: Sustainability@hms.harvard.edu (HMS) or greenideas@hsph.harvard.edu (HSPH) if interested.
  2. Volunteer to conduct a sustainability assessment for your individual lab and help to spread sustainable lab best practices.
  3. Become an informed advocate for sustainability within your lab and beyond by exploring the tools and resources in the menu on this page & on your respective school’s homepage.
